What Is A "Magnet-Mailer?"

It is a postcard that has an external magnet riding on it.  The magnet can be attached via a glue, or it can be sealed to the postcard with an over-lamination sheet.

Why Should I Consider It For My Campaign?

The value a candidate would receive from buying a magnet-mailer is that once it is delivered, the magnet is kept in the home of the voter, and referred to multiple times throughout the magnet's useful life.  This helps to build and reinforce your name ID to the voter.

I Bet The Postage For This Is Pretty High, Isn't It?

No, actually, it is not.  A political candidate could mail this piece direct to his targeted households at the postage rate of only $0.275 each.  If it is for an election, the magnet-mailer will be mailed as "Red Tag" which is a designation of mail that requires the USPS to treat the magnet-mailer as though it was First-Class mail.  Which means you only pay for standard bulk-rate mail, but it gets delivered much faster.

What Can Be Put On the Magnet To Make It Useful?

Our clients have had a lot of success with putting handy phone numbers on the magnets (phone numbers for the voter's community); football schedules are real popular, either high school or college to help connect the candidate to the community; and some basic things like Kitchen Weights & Measures that provide the homeowner voter with conversions for cooking. How Much Does This Cost In Relation To The Plain Postcards?

The cost for a magnet-mailer depends on the following: quantity of pieces, size of the postcard, and size of the magnet.  On average, the cost to print a magnet-mailer is 1.5 times the cost of a regular flat postcard.

However, the value received by your campaign from the magnet-mailer is 6-10 times the value you would receive from a plain, flat mail piece.  It is estimated that plain postcard mail (regardless of how colorful the design is) receives about 5-10 seconds of attention before being discarded in the trashcan.

Magnet-mailers, when designed with a magnet containing information useful to the voter, are brought into the home, studied, and the magnet is removed and placed on the refrigerator.  Voters remember the magnet-mailer because it is much more distinctive.

Where Is The Magnet-Mailer Made?

It is printed, assembled, and mailed from a state located in the (literally) center of the contiguous 48 states.  It is mailed from the factory at no additional cost to you.  Delivery via Red-Tag will occur within the timeframe of regular First-Class mail by the USPS.

There are no set-up costs, no mailhouse costs, and no addressing costs.  This alone saves you a lot of money that other people will charge you to mail a political campaign postcard.

How Long Does It Take To Produce A Magnet-Mailer?

A magnet-mailer takes a minimum of 10 working days after the time an order with a completed design is placed.  Actual production time will be determined at the time of the order, and depends on factory demand at the time of the order and your quantity.

Please note: this is not a piece that can be turned around in 48 hours like some campaign postcards.  This is a piece that should be used to introduce your candidacy to the voter in a positive manner and demonstrate that you are interested in helping them in their daily lives, not just as a candidate representing them, but by providing them with a useful magnet with your logo on it.

Is The Design Included In The Price?

No, the design is a separate process from the printing.  If you have someone who can design it, we can provide design specs.  If you need for us to design it, our graphic artist will work with you on it on a fixed rate per hour.

How Many Colors Can This Be Printed In?

Both the postcard and the magnet are printed in a full, 4-color digital process.  So, photos and any design you want will be beautifully reproduced.  Also, the card and magnet is laminated so it gives it a higher-quality look and feel to it.

Does It Matter Which Side of The Postcard The Magnet Is Placed?

No.  The versatility of the piece is wide-open.  If you check our Case Studies under the Judicial Races, you will see the Chase Daughtrey piece in a vertical format on one side, and a horizontal format on the other.  The design possibilities are endless.

Who Is Responsible For Providing The Mailing List?

If the campaign cannot provide it, ID Builders has a source for getting a voter list for any municipality in any state.  There will be an extra charge for this, separate from the cost of printing the magnet-mailer.
